The bill (Reg. No. 1098) suggests amend the existing law in view of introducing election of city mayors in the cities with population of more than 500 thousand under the majoritarian system of absolute majority.
In particular, a candidate that wins more than a half of electors’ votes shall be deemed the elected city mayor.
The document stipulates that in case none of the candidates wins absolute majority of votes in the first voting, than the second voting is carried out between the two candidates that won the majority of electors’ votes. The candidate who, following the results of the second voting, wins more than a half of electors’ votes shall be deemed the elected city mayor.
